Betty Louise (Walker) Hiatt, 88, Kokomo, passed away at 7:11 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in Century Villa Health Care and Rehab, Greentown. She was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Cass County, to Harry E. and Gladys M. (Carey) Walker. On Dec. 24, 1939, she married Ralph E. Hiattt, who passed away Feb. 9, 1989.
She graduated from West Middleton High School. She retired in 1978 from General Motors after 30 years of service in production. She loved working puzzles, watching sports and spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by a loving daughter who cared for her until the end, Linda Sue and husband Robert W.; two grandchildren; Michelle Miller and husband Kevin, and Shawn Mickelson and wife Christine; five great-grandchildren whom she adored, Matthew and Emily Miller, Sarah, Kate and Mary Mickelson; brothers, William and wife Donna, Robert, Harry Jr. and wife Mary Jo, Joseph and wife Maudine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Keith; nephews, Terry Lee and Jimmy Jo Walker; and a sister-in-law, Joann.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary South Main Street Chapel, with Pastor Norm Snyder officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Kokomo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
