Boyd A. Summers, 71, passed away quietly Thursday, May 8, 2008, at his home in Windfall. He was born Feb. 12, 1937, in Tipton County, the son of Everett and Orpha Bannon. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Ann (Wood) Summers. They were married July 30, 1955. His wife preceded him in death July 26, 2007.
He graduated from Windfall High School in 1955, serving as class president. He attended Windfall United Methodist Church. He served as president, vice president and tail-twister for the Windfall Lions Club. He was instrumental in organizing the Tipton Bowling Association Hall of Fame, where he was inducted as a member in 2004 and had participated in many leagues over the years.
Boyd stayed busy in his garage, the fields around Tipton County and the Windfall community. He was a dedicated and loving person to all who knew him. He was greatly loved by his family and will be terribly missed by all.
He worked for Steel Parts for 42 years before retiring in 1999.
Surviving are his children, Alana Jo (John) Calaway, Mark (Marcia) Summers, Carol (Jim) Lorts, Lori (John) Little, Kenneth (Cathie) Summers, Dennis Summers and Pam (Michael) Gilbody; grandchildren, Jason Calaway, Joni (Hilliard) Rose, Scott (Laurie) Summers, Jamie (John) Aldridge, Tracy Summers, Andy Lorts, Cory Lorts, Stacey Porter, Alicia Porter, Keaton Summers, Seth Summers, Chelsea Summers, Trevor Summers, Chandler Summers, John Gilbody and Kate Gilbody; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sandy Lefebore, Roberta Sprinkle and Robert Summers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pat; and siblings, Charles Summers and Imogene Wisler.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Chris Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
