M. Waneita Davies
March 26, 1904 - May 10, 2008
Waneita Davies, 104, Kokomo, died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Windsor Estates Health and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Davies graduated from Scircleville High School and Kokomo Business School. After graduation she worked as a secretary for several Kokomo businesses. She was a member of Courtland Avenue Friends Church. She was a volunteer at the Kokomo Rescue Mission for more than 30 years. Mrs. Davies was born March 26, 1904, at the family home near Michigantown, to Alfred E. and Zora E. (Power) Spurgeon. She married Robert Davies on Nov. 10, 1931, and he died March 2, 1971.
Surviving are nephews James D. Siegfried Jr. and Richard Spurgeon, Frankfort, Robert Spurgeon, Plymouth Meeting, Pa., Fredrick Myers, Florence, Ala., and Joseph Spurgeon, Huntsville, Ala.; nieces; Nancy Atchley, Frankfort, Sharon Ochs, League City, Texas, Wilma Swackhamer, Lebanon, Marilyn Kingma, Troutville, Va., and Connie Brown, Birmingham, Ala.
Two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Courtland Avenue Friends Church, 1300 S. Courtland Ave., with Pastor Joe Toren officiating.
Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Kokomo Rescue Mission or Courtland Avenue Friends Church, with envelopes available at the church.
