Martha E. Slagle

Jan. 24, 1915 - May 9, 2008

Martha E. Slagle, 93, formerly of Amboy, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Century Villa Health Care Center, Greentown. She was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Howard County, the daughter of Guy and Hazel Stratton Miller. On March 6, 1938, in Kokomo, she married Gail J. Slagle, who preceded her in death July 10, 2004.

Martha and Gail farmed in Wabash County from 1938 to 1997, when they retired and moved to Amboy.

She was a 1932 graduate of West Middleton High School in Howard County. She was a member of Amboy United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Martha was raised by her grandparents.

Surviving are a sister, Jane Stepler, Kokomo; several cousins, Joan and Bill Whitehouse and family, Russiaville, James and Marian Arbuckle and family, Kokomo; extended family, Danny and Wanita Levenskey and family, Amboy and Jerry and Jean Kuhn and family, Amboy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Cloe Miller; and a stepbrother, Ned Ramseyer.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Amboy United Methodist Church, 202 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Amboy. Pastor James McDowell will officiate.

Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy. Memorial contributions may be made to Amboy United Methodist Church.
