Ingrid Edith (Fischer) Landis

Ingrid Edith (Fischer) Landis, 60, Greentown, was called to be with her Lord and Savior after a long, hard battle with cancer at 6:55 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008. Ingrid was born Jan. 25, 1948, and raised in Naila, Germany, the daughter of the late Erich Fischer and Herta (Deiwick) Fischer who survives her.
It was in Naila, Germany where she met Chester “Bud” Landis while he was stationed in the Army in Nuremberg, Germany. Ingrid came to the U.S. where she married Bud on May 4, 1968, in Peru. They had two children, Tony and Kimberly. Ingrid was the proprietor of Ingrid’s Alterations in Kokomo for 23 years. She was a member of VFW Post 1152 Ladies Auxillary, Greentown American Legion Ladies Auxillary, and Kokomo Eagles Lodge Auxillary.
Ingrid is survived by her mother, Herta Fischer, Bad Aibling, Germany; her husband, Chester “Bud” Landis, Greentown; her son, Anthony and wife Heather Landis, Bunker Hill; her daughter, Kimberly and husband Berry Allen, Greentown; and four grandchildren, Jerrod and Joclynn Landis, Bunker Hill, and Alexus and Kaiya Allen, Greentown.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her father, Erich Fischer, Germany; and her brother, Harald Fischer, Germany.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Pastor Scott Butzin will officiate. Immediately following the services, VFW 1152 in Kokomo will be holding a dinner in Ingrid’s honor. The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary, with a VFW Post 1152 Auxillary service beginning at 7:30 p.m. There will be no graveside services as Ingrid’s wish is to be cremated.
Memorials may be directed to Guardian Angel Hospice or to the Oncology Center of Howard Regional Health System, with envelopes available at the mortuary.
