Charles E. Russell, 72, Kokomo, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Howard Regional Health System Hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Madison County, Ala., to Catherine (Neely) Russell and Elijah Russell
Charles worked as a carpenter and welder for Swartout Manufacturing in Kokomo. He later went to work as a U.S. Mail truck driver. Charles was a member of Victory Church of God where he sang bass in the church choir.
He is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Patricia Russell, Kokomo, and Karen and Danny Casbon, Kokomo; four sons and their spouses, Bill and Sherry Russell, Belvidere, Ill., Richard Russell, Kokomo, Gary and Stacy Russell, Kokomo, and Terry Russell, Kokomo; his loving friend, Carrie Cook, Kokomo; four sisters and their spouses, Ola Mae Brock, Mildred Dunn, Bertha and Tom Rogers and Ruby and Charles Dunlap, all of Tennessee; five brothers and their spouses, John and Bev Russell, Oakford, James and Barbara Russell, Howard County, J.D. and Linda Russell, Nashville, Tenn., and Raymond Russell and his companion Brenda and William and Patty Russell, all of Tennessee, and 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Evelyn Russell and his parents.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Herman Gorham officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
