Doneta L. (Collins) Thomas
July 20, 1931 - May 19, 2008
Doneta L. (Collins) Thomas, 76, Kokomo, died at 8:31 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2008, at her home. She was born July 20, 1931, in Hemlock, to Harry and Dorothy (Campbell) Collins.
She graduated from Prairie Township High School in 1949. Doneta was a homemaker. She was an avid cat lover, bird watcher and loved to feed squirrels. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening and mushroom hunting.
She is survived by her children, Nita L. Wright and husband Michael, Kokomo, John W. McAninch and wife Sandy, Amboy, Joe M. McAninch and wife Cindy, Pine Bluff, Ark., and Karen J. Haworth, Kokomo; stepchildren, Steven Childers and wife Teresa, Rolla, Mo.; Terry Childers and wife Stacey, Tucker, Ala.; Danny Childers and wife Tereasa, South Point, Ohio; Ellen Daniels and husband Tom, Jonesborough, Tenn.; Vicki Phillips and husband Kenneth, Pine Bluff, Ark.; Pam Walker, Pine Bluff, Ark.; and Mark Thomas, Florida, a brother, James H. Collins and wife Lucille, Kokomo, 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several stepgrandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother who raised her, Grace Collins; one brother; two sisters, Margaret Hughes and Marjorie Snow; two grandchildren, Scott Haworth and Justin Conwell.
Memorial services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville with Brother Tim Lykins officiating. Inurnment will follow in Albright Cemetery in Kokomo. Friends may call one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to VNS Hospice or Kokomo Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
