Joseph Calvin Tackett
July 29, 1929 - May 27, 2008
Joseph Calvin Tackett, 78, Hemlock, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Howard Regional Health System. He was born July 29, 1929, in Mount Vernon, Ark., to Joseph H. and Martha E. (Kelley) Tackett. On July 16, 1955, in Newport, Ark., he married Evelyn C. Wilson.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War achieving the rank of SFC. He worked at Continental Steel until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Center Road Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening and cherished spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, Evelyn Tackett, he is survived by one son, Tommy Lee and wife Nancy Tackett, Ark.; one daughter, Nancy Joann and husband Mark McKee, Pa.; four grandchildren, Serena McKee-Bonifate, Germany, Chadwick McKee, Pa., Crystal Simpson, Miss., and Angie Tackett, Ark.; four great-grandchildren, Preston and Bridget Bonifate, and McKenna and Addison Simpson; and one brother, Winford Tackett, Calif.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with Pastor Lynn Brust officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service today at the funeral home.
