Virginia E. Brown, 77, Kokomo, died at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009. She was born in 1932 in Burlington, the daughter of the late Paul and Opal (Barnett) Miller. She was married to Kenneth E. “Brownie” Brown, who preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Burlington High School, a retired real estate broker, a retiree of Delco Electronics, Kokomo, and a full time loving mother and grandmother. As a licensed beautician, she operated a shop with her sister in Kokomo for 54 years in the ‘60s. She was also a member of Delco Alumni, Burlington High School Alumni, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Delco Retirees Association.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael K. and Lisa Wheeler, Kokomo, David L. and Debbie Wheeler, Chicago, and Mark A. and Janis Wheeler, Galveston.
Virginia and Brownie raised a blended family that also included daughters, Jackie Robinson and her husband, Bob, Fla., Nancy Goldsberry, Kokomo; and son Mike Brown, Marion; a brother, Terry D. Miller, Kokomo; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Two sisters preceded her in death, Barbara King and Janet Sue Miller.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Enochs officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
