Lawrence “Larry” J. Coburn, 67, Hernando, Fla., died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. He was born on Oct. 25, 1940, in Kokomo, to Patricia J. (Boring) and Harold L. Coburn. Larry moved to Hernando in 1996 from St. Pete, Fla.
Lawrence graduated from Kokomo High School in 1958.
He had a varied career. Larry worked as an EMT in New York City, Banking, he was a transportation manager for United Parcel Service and the St. Petersburg Times. He also worked for Smith Kline Labs and the Citrus County Chronicle. Larry was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto and he was an Air Force veteran, serving in Korea in an Air EVAC unit Ground EMT. He produced the monthly newsletters for two K of C Councils and one Assembly as well as maintaining their Web Site and he was deeply involved in the fundraising for the Pope John Paul II Catholic School in Lecanto.
Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pamela Coburn; his brother, Bill Coburn, The Villages; two sisters, Pam Dance, Kokomo, and Kathy Coburn, Gainesville, Fla.; and his two dogs, Molly and Dolly.
