Betty A. Yeary, 80, Covington, formerly of Tipton and Sharpsville, died at 8:14 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at the Waters of Covington. She was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Kokomo, to Oscar and Bertha (McGraw) Rickard. On Dec. 4, 1948, in Kokomo, she married Raymond “Short” Yeary, and he preceded her in death in April 1999.

She was a private duty nurse and lived most of her life in Howard and Tipton counties. She was a member of Windfall Church of the Brethren. Betty loved her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Deborah A. and James Hayes, Potomac, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jason Ray Miller, and Curtis, Anthony and Heather Hayes. She is also survived by several half-sisters and one half-brother.

She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter and one brother.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Boyer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Coffin officiating. Burial will be in Sharpsville Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
