Gordon Cogar

Gordon “Skip” Cogar, 64, Galveston, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at his residence. He was born Nov. 16, 1944, in Richwood, W.Va., to Clifford and Helen (Lipscomb) Cogar, Sr. On Nov. 13, 1965, he married Barbara Youngman, and she survives.
He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965, and later worked for Delco until his retirement in 1996.
He was a member of the VFW and Calvary Baptist Church in Kokomo. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed taking long drives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Angie Cernak and husband James, and Sabrina Olah and husband Daniel; one grandson, Conner Olah; and two brothers, James Cogar, and David Cogar and wife Maria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Clifford “Bob” Cogar, Jr, and Michael Cogar.
The funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours are 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the World Wild Life Foundation.
