Barbara J. Wortman

Barbara J. (Gust) Wortman, 79, Logansport, passed away at 9:27 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Logansport. She was born March 15, 1930, in Logansport, to Harold and Martha Wray Gust. She married Ray Ross Wortman on May 29, 1952, in Logansport, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1984.

She was the former co-owner of Wortman Welding Supply of Kokomo. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Avalon Grotto Auxiliary of South Bend, Past Maharanee and member of the Logansport Niddee Shrine Guild, and Order of Eastern Star Chapter #89 of Kokomo.

She is survived by a son, Harold L. Wortman and wife Cathy, Terre Haute; daughter Karla Carter, Noblesville; sisters, Marie Southerton, Rochester, and Goldie Russell, Frankfort; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home, with Dr. Horace Smith officiating. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, with a 2:30 p.m. graveside service on Friday. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. There will also be a Niddee Shrine Guild service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
