Richard V. Harrison

Richard V. Harrison Sr., 86, Kokomo, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Waterford Place Health Campus. He was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Kokomo, to Carl and Mabel (Eldridge) Harrison.
He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee during WWII. He was a very successful business man and owned and operated his own business, H & H Plastering. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling and hunting.
He is survived by two sons, Richard V. Harrison Jr. and wife Carol, and James Harrison and wife Tina; two daughters, Susan Hunter and husband Gary, and Kelly Nelson; two brothers, Jack and Don Harrison; two sisters, Joyce Rivers, and Virginia Holtsen; seven grandchildren, Josie Gray and husband Mike, Jill Wyrick and husband Justin, Ryan Chapam and wife Mandy, Nicholas Chapam, Amy Kraay and husband Kenny, Jason Harrison and wife Beth, and Bridget Harrison; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary E. (Gollner) Harrison; his second wife, Louise (Schwaln) Harrison; his parents; and one brother, Kenny Harrison.
The family would like to thank Guardian Angel Hospice and Waterford Place for the care and compassion given to Richard throughout his final days.
The funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Bousum officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences to the family can be made at www.mem.com.
