Peru — Charles K. “Chuck” Latta, 87, Peru, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012. God called home a great man; our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully with his two daughters and his dog, Barney, by his side.
He was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Peru to Charles B. and Ida Murial (Jones) Latta. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during WW II, stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington. On July 10, 1949, he married the love of his life, Marcella (Floyd), who preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 2001.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Vicky (Tom) McCain, Kokomo, and Debby (Gary) Raber, Peru; granddaughters, Kelly McKillip, Carmel, and Sherry Raber, Peru; great-granddaughters, Shelbey Brown, Ashelyn McKillip and Lilly Raber; his sister, Donna (Glen) Lawrence, Richmond; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and three sisters.
Chuck was a devoted man who dearly loved his family and was always there for them. He was loved and respected by the many who knew him. He always had a joke or story to share with them. He will be sadly missed by his family and those whose lives he touched.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Fields and the Rev. Evan Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Peru.
