Kokomo — Donald Alvin Hollis, 81, Kokomo, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in Kindred Transitional Care and Rehab, Kokomo. Born Dec. 11, 1930, in Kokomo, he is the son of the late Virgil Hollis and Agnes (Heiser) Hollis. He was a graduate of Kokomo High School. On Oct. 20, 1950, in Kokomo, he married Beverly Jane (Langley). She preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2010.  

He was employed with Continental Steel, also with Delco Electronics, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. He was an avid Purdue and Indianapolis Colts fan, enjoyed playing cards with his friends, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Timothy A. (Carolyn) Hollis of Lafayette; one daughter, Donita D. (Richard) Rippy, Tipton; six grandchildren, Gregory D. Hollis, Tina D. Henderson, Kelsey Hollis, Laura M. Nance, Carrie J. Pitts, and Michelle L. DeRue; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Norman Hollis; two sisters, Virginia Spangler and Judy Graham; and one grandson, Noah M. Rippy.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 Southway Blvd. E. Pastor William Allison will officiate. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
