Velma E. Ehrman, 84, Kokomo, went to be with her Lord and savior at 10:05 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at North Woods Village Health Care. She was born June 6, 1929, in Howard County, to Vane and Ruth (Hartman) Conwell. On Feb. 26, 1950, Velma married the love of her life, George “Bob” R. Ehrman, who preceded her in death Feb. 13, 2013.
Velma was a 1947 graduate of Clay Township High School. She was a member of Burlington Faith Church of Christ, where she was the church organist for many years, taught Sunday school and was the director of puppet ministries. Velma taught children for many years at Good News Clubs for Child Evangelism Fellowship, and helped lead many of those children to Christ. She was an excellent seamstress and craft maker. Velma worked at several various jobs, but her main job was being a homemaker and helpmate to her husband, Bob.
Survivors include children, Teresa Vaughn, Kokomo, Jennifer (Daniel) Phillips, Russiaville, and Timothy R. (Deidra) Ehrman, Flora; brothers, Gail (Mary Jo) Conwell, Sun City, Ariz., and Jerry (Georgette) Conwell, Scottsdale, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Conwell, Kokomo, and Betty (Bob) Maletich, Johnson City, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Kelby Vaughn, Aaron Causey, Leanne Alyias, Reyna Ehrman and Emma Ehrman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vane and Ruth Conwell; husband, George Ehrman; and brother, Floyd Conwell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Steve Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Barnett Cemetery. Friends may call upon the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
