Della Maxine Crews, 75, Kokomo, passed away at 12:18 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at her home. She was born the daughter of Arvil Clarence and Rosie Mae (Ward) McClain on Nov. 21, 1938, in Braggadocio, Mo.
Maxine was a 1958 graduate of Deering High School in Missouri, and moved to Kokomo in 1959. She retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass in 1994, and was a member of Kokomo Missionary Baptist Church. Her life was her children, grandchildren, family and friends. The more she could give of herself, the happier she was. She never met a stranger, and will be loved and missed forever.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Chris) Morgan, Gary Crews, Allen Crews, and Tonya Hancock; grandchildren, Gary (Courtney) Lowery, Ashley, Levi (Cheyanna), James, and Joshua Crews, Brooklyn, Kayla, and Summer Hancock, Sandy and Scotty Richardson; great-grandchildren, Paul, Autumn, Joseph, and Abigail Lowery, Vawn, Waylon, and Mason Judy, Nolan and MaKenzy Crews, Cameron, Skylar, and Bruck Richardson, siblings; Laverne Roberson, Clara Fletcher, Larry (Vicki) McClain, Darrell (Betty) McClain, and Glenda Long; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special life-long best friend, Joyce Bolton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter, Amy Judy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Nathan York officiating.
