Jack Junior Kindlesparker

Feb. 26, 1930 -- Feb. 21, 2014

Jack Junior Kindlesparker, 83, Kokomo, went to his Heavenly home at 10:20 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Community Howard Regional Health System, five days short of his 84th birthday. He was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Peru, the son of Walter C. and Marie (Johnson) Kindlesparker. On Sept. 1, 1990, in Kokomo, he married Carol J. (Maska) Kindlesparker, who survives.

Jack grew up in the Peru and Rich Valley area. Jack was a graduate of Twelve Mile High School. For a short period of time, he lived in Nebraska and North Carolina, but always returned back to his Indiana roots. Jack started working at the age of 14, laying railroad ties. He had many jobs in his life and always taught his children, “if you can’t do the job right, don’t do it.”

Jack loved to spend time camping with his family. He had visited all 50 states and all most all of the national parks. He loved to experience the sun, beaches and mountains, wonderfully created by God. Jack found out about his cancer in July and kept it to himself so he wouldn’t spoil his family vacation. He told his doctor. “If I’m not dying before next Monday, don’t tell me until then, we’re going on vacation.”

Jack will be remembered for helping others, especially his friend, neighbor and Pastor, Brad who he always said was like his son. He enjoyed his daily visits with his very special nephew, David. He looked forward to seeing him every day. He never met a stranger and loved to play golf.

Survivors include his wife, Carol, Kokomo; children, Jack (Debbie) Kindlesparker, Bardstown, Ky., Robert “Bob” (Sherry) Kindlesparker, Goldsboro, N.C., Danny “Dan” (Barb) Kindlesparker, Peru, Darlene (Bruce) Shank, Peru, Eric (Shannon) Wortman, Washington, D.C., and Laura Wortman, Jeffersonville, 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Keultjes, South Bend, and Nancy Black, Plattsmouth, Neb., sister-in-law, Marlene (Greg) Hoppes; and David (Brittany) Hoppes, Donnelle (Taylor) Miller, Logan and Morgan and a host of other nieces and nephews.
