Linda Mildred Owens, 88, Logansport, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, in Century Villa Healthcare Center. Born July 10, 1925, in Martinsville, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Bert and Stella Johnson Van Houten. At the age of 4, she was adopted by the late Hurl Pete and Bertha Sweet Towell. On Aug. 7, 1941, she was married to Charles Mick Owens. He preceded her in death Jan. 24, 1972.
Linda was a graduate of Jamestown High School. She worked as an aide and driver for Camelot Care Center. The residents loved her and she loved them dearly. She was a caregiver her entire life. She was loved by one and all who knew her.
Linda was a member of the River of Life Christian Church, where she was active in several ministries. She loved God, her family and her friends. She was a fan of IU basketball, the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts.
Surviving are one son, Mick L. Owens and his wife Kathy, Kokomo; one daughter, Bonnie Uchida and her husband Ken, Logansport; four grandchildren, Rayelee (Rob) Lother, Brent (Kim) Owens, Brigit (Jason) Braun and Brooke (Chris) Rockey; eight great-grandchildren, Shane Lother, Maria, Lydia and Bailey Owens, Cole, Hope and Jaden Braun and Nadia Rockey; one great-great-granddaughter, Lily Lother; one sister-in-law, Elaine; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donnie; and two brothers, Olin Van Houten and Hurlie Van Houten; and one sister, Reba Van Houten Gates.
Services were held Feb. 17 in Logansport.
