James “Jim” E. Lucas Sr., 70, Kokomo, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at home. James was born Jan. 18, 1944, in Pruden, Tenn., to the late John and Marie (Hall) Lucas. On Nov. 23, 1962, he married Patsy R. Gordon, who survives.
James attended Kokomo High School and was retired from Hochstedler Energy Systems in Greentown.
Jim enjoyed fishing and friends, but he loved nothing more than his family. His seven grandchildren were the pride of his life, and he cherished time spent with them.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patsy (Pat) Lucas; three sons, James E. Lucas Jr. (Amy), Tim Lucas, and Ken Lucas (Kandi), all of Kokomo; six grandchildren, Makayla Lucas, Andrew Lucas, Kaitlyn Lucas, Tyler Lucas, Brittany Lucas, and Emily Lucas; one great-grandchild, Addyson Lucas-Shockley; and one brother, Tom Lucas.
James was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John C. Lucas.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph Hospital and the St. Joseph Oncology Department, Dr. Naraj Gupta and Nurse Barb for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, also at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, with Pastor Bruce Mughmaw officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.
