---- — Martha S. Benjamin, 77, Anderson, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Kokomo after a courageous 3 1/2 year battle with brain cancer. She was born on Nov. 24, 1936, in Anderson to Mildred and Cecil Skaggs, and resided her entire life in Anderson.
Martha graduated from Anderson High School in 1954. She retired as an executive secretary at Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 30 years of service.
She loved the Anderson Indians and Indiana University basketball. She also loved to go to sporting events with her family, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had an extended family of sisters, and nieces and nephews that she enjoyed.
Martha is survived by her husband, Martin Benjamin, Anderson; daughters, Brenda (Dan) Catron, Kokomo, and Barbara (Ronald) Baughman, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Brad Baughman, Pittsburgh, Zachary Baughman, Ann Arbor, Mich., Gretchen Catron, Kokomo, Steve Baughman (Janelle), Arcadia, and Heather Baughman, Austin, Texas; great-grandson, Milo Baughman, Arcadia; and sisters, Mary (Robert) Norris, Anderson, Shirley Walbridge, Fort Wayne, and Barbara (Larry) Moran, Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Skaggs; father, Cecil Skaggs; and her first husband, Jay York.
Visitation will be 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Steve Baughman officiating. Burial will take place in East Maplewood Mausoleum, Anderson.
