---- — Robert Russel Salsbery, 86, Sharpsville, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Tipton Hospital. He was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Howard County to Russel and Opal (Hollingsworth) Salsbery.
Robert attended Ross School and graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1945. He then took a short course in agriculture at Purdue University. On June 15, 1947, he married Phyllis Anne McCauley.
He was a lifelong farmer, along with his three sons, a daughter and several grandsons who continue to operate the farm he began in 1947.
At the age of 12, Robert accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. He endeavored to live his life according to God’s principles. He truly was a man of integrity who dearly loved his family and was a godly example to them and prayed for each one daily. Robert was a member of Crossroads Community Church.
His wife survives along with five children, Cynthia (George) Sheppard, Auburndale, Fla., Tim (Darlene) Salsbery, Sharpsville, Randy (Anne) Salsbery, Sharpsville, Pat (Rhonda) Salsbery, Sharpsville, and Becky Salsbery, Sharpsville; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth Salsbery, Loudon, Tenn., Jerry (Margaret) Salsbery, Tipton, Benny (Cathy) Salsbery, Claypool; stepmother, Alice Salsbery; stepbrother, Kenneth (Mary Jo) Tillman, Russiaville; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Community Church, 4254 S. 00 East-West, with Pastors Jeff Harlow and Bill Barnett officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery.
