Michael Alan Host, 59, Sharpsville, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014. He was born Oct. 5, 1954, in Kokomo, the son of James A. and Ilene M. (Tainton) Host. On July 21, 1995, in Jamaica, he married Kimberly Sue Host, who survives.
Michael was a 1972 graduate of Kokomo High School, where he played on the baseball team, and a 1976 graduate of Purdue University. In 1980, he started working for the Kokomo Gas Company, now NIPSCO. He was working as a project manager and had been employed there for 33 years. He enjoyed woodworking and playing men’s fast-pitch softball.
Michael is survived by his wife, Kim, Sharpsville; children, Lauren (Ryan) Hungate, Audri Host, Collin Host and Conner Host; stepdaughter, Erika Fager; grandson, Hudson Dzurny; mother, Ilene M. Host; siblings, Diana (Richard) Smith, Teresa Branch, Lisa Pierce, Jeff (Sherry) Host and Lynn Gayken; sister-in-law, Jackie Host; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Larry Host.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home and Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Lynn Coleman officiating. Private burial will be held in Sunset Memory gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday.
