Mary A. Duncan, 73, Greentown, passed away at 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at her residence after battling brain cancer for 21 years. She was born May 11, 1940, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Gordon W. and June Mary (Barmettler) Reefe. On April 22, 1961, at Offutt Air Force Base, in Omaha, Neb., she married Gary W. Duncan, who survives.
She was a 1959 graduate of Cathederal High School in Omaha, Neb. She modeled for Nancy Bounds Studio, Omaha, Neb. She retired after 28 years of service with Delco Electronics in 1993. Mary was instrumental in helping create and partnered with Gary in establishing Panda Vans in 1975.
She was talented in so many areas, including her love for making floral arrangements. She loved to water and snow ski. She also enjoyed spending time on the houseboat with family and friends. She loved watching Nebraska Cornhuskers football and she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother her entire life.
She is survived by husband, Gary; children, Todd M. Duncan, Kokomo, Tonya Youngblood, Bunker Hill, Theresa (John) Helvie, Greentown and Tony Duncan, Russiaville; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Youngblood, Bunker Hill, Trisha Youngblood, Bunker Hill, Dakota Duncan, Greentown, Elle Duncan, Russiaville, Carly Duncan Michael Duncan, Matthew Duncan, Sweetser and Mattea Pickering-Helvie, Kokomo; special granddaughter, Kolena Bowman, Indianapolis; four sisters, Diane Ballard, Madison, Ala., Lucy Snyder, Omaha, Neb., Patti (Mike) Vodicka, Omaha, Neb., and Cathy (Bob) Ratner, Coin, Iowa; brother, Gordon Reefe, Jr. Omaha, Neb.; several nieces and nephews and friend and caregiver, Janie Cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services for Mary will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with the Rev. Father Anthony Rowland officiating. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
