Roberta “Grandma” Crook, 95, Sharpsville, passed away peacefully at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at her home. She was born Feb. 7, 1918, to Harry and Nellie (Proviance) Cree near Young America. She graduated from Young America High School in 1937. On Feb. 26, 1941, she married Milford Lester Crook, who preceded her in death in 1975.
Roberta was a ray of sunshine. She had a positive attitude, saw the best in everyone and always had a smile for you. She was an extremely hardworking farmer’s wife and later took on the role as a second mother to her three grandchildren after the passing of her daughter-in-law, Bonnie. She loved crocheting baskets out of cards. She put a lot of thought into the theme of each basket and gave them to friends and strangers with pride. She was very active in the Sharpsville United Methodist Church for many years, and enjoyed being the “cookie lady” during vacation bible school. She was also a member of the Lions Club of Sharpsville. She was a great friend to many, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by grandsons, Darrell (Millie) Crook and Ray (Glenda) Crook; granddaughter, Sonya (Dana) Reser-Crook; great-grandson, Kyle (Ashley) Crook; and great-great-grandchildren, Noah and Arabella Crook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford; son, Harold; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie.
The family would like to thank Scotts Home Healthcare, St. Joseph Hospital at home hospice care and Dr. David Williams.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Boyer Funeral Home in Sharpsville, with private graveside services for the family. Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sharpsville United Methodist Church. Boyer Funeral Home in Sharpsville assisted the family with arrangements.
