Esther P. Carter, 84, Russiaville, passed away at 5:26 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born May 8, 1929, in Kokomo, the daughter of Arlet Golding Sr. and Mary Pearl (Metz) Golding. On Jan. 28, 1951, she married Kenneth Todd Carter, who preceded her in death on July 18, 1989.
Esther was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked for Delco Electronics, retiring in 1979 from Department 863X after 33 years of service. Esther also photographed children visiting Santa and the Easter Bunny at Kokomo Mall for many years. She loved nature and enjoyed deer and bird watching. She also attended First Christian Church.
Esther is survived by a son, Dennis J. (Lisa) Carter; grandchildren, Mitzy M. Cruzen and Jonathan J. Carter; great-grandchildren, Paige T. Layne, Linzy S. Cruzen, and Carter J. Cruzen; one great-great-granddaughter, Abigail S. Layne; a sister, Clara M. (David) Morgan; a son-in-law, Jim J. (Julie) Krekeler; and cherished friends and neighbors, Pleamon and Sue Hewitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Mary I. Golding; a brother, Arlet Golding Jr.; and daughters, Debra S. Krekeler and Barbara L. Carter.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Burial will follow in New London Cemetery.
