James Turner, Jr. passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2014. He was born Feb. 17, 1932, to Estella Stewart and Allen Turner, in Hickman, Ky.
James was a U.S. Air force veteran retiring in 1973 after 25 plus years of service. He was previously employed as a machine operator for Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 1998 after 25 years of service.
James was a member of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church. He was also a member of the A. Philip A. Randolph Institute and Lay Male Choir.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Queen Turner; four daughters, Renita Jeanette Turner, South Bend, Renee Yvette Jenkins, Detroit, Mich., Robbie Lynn Schaefer (Stanley), St Louis, Mo., and Terene Louise Davis, O’Fallon, Mo.; four sons, Roy Lee Tuenr (Sharon), Denver, Colo., Carl Dwayne Tuner, East Saint Louis, Ill., Reginald Perry (Cheryl), Detroit, Mich., and Shawn Guy Willis (Jonell), Fort Wayne; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Joe Turner.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church. Pastor Louis Parham will be the officiant and Pastor Jimmie Davis will be the eulogist. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery.
