Harley ‘Walt’ Rosa Jr.

— Harley Walter “Walt” Rosa Jr., 82, Kokomo, passed away at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, in his home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness. He was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Kokomo, to the late Harley W. and Bessie (Jackson) Rosa. He married Irene M. Botzum June 28, 1952, in Aschaffenburg, Germany. She who survives.

Walt was a veteran of World War II and retired from General Motors Delco Electronics in Kokomo after 32 years of service. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He also enjoyed all sports. Most of all, he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Walt is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene M. Rosa; three children, Susie (Tom) Gillis, Jacksonville, Fla., Pam Rosa, Maine, and Mike (Monica) Rosa, Greentown; eight grandchildren, Heidi (Ryan) Sanchez, Erika Thomison, Monique (Christopher) Martin, Nichol (Craig) Musgrave, Todd (Rachel) Hobbs, Amber (Chris) Hoose, Shawn (Stephanie) Rosa, and Kristin (Brad) Dean; 12 great-grandchildren; five sisters; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law in Germany; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one brother; one sister-in-law; and six brothers-in-law.

The family would like to thank Guardian Angel Hospice for their exceptional and loving care during Walt’s extended illness.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Tony Rowland celebrating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church or Guardian Angel Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
