— Jim R. Phillips, 68, Kokomo, passed away at 9:01 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at his home. He was born on May 29, 1944, in Bugtussle, Ky., to Guy Clay and Audra (Creek) Phillips. Jim married Nancy E. Sullivan on March 27, 1965, in Kokomo, and she passed away on Dec. 24, 2009.
Jim was a 1962 graduate of Western High School and loved golfing, hunting, fishing, turkey shoot, and gun restoration. Jim was a member of the UAW Local 292, a skilled-trade pipe fitter, and jack of all trades. His favorite time was spent with his buddy and grandson, Nathan.
Survivors include daughter Jacqueline Dawn Phillips and son Gregory Shane Phillips, both of Kokomo; brother David Phillips, Russiaville; sister Judy (Jim) Cochran, Marion; and grandson Nathan Clay Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Clay and Audra, sister Helen Sandefur, and brothers Guy Clay Jr., Frank, and Jerry Phillips.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the start of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral services at Sunset Memory Gardens.
