Steven J. Johnson, 56, Kokomo, died unexpectedly at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. He was born Aug. 25, 1956, in Logansport, to his mother, Waneta A. Jones, and his late father, Harold C. Johnson.
He had lived at the Westdale Group Home in Kokomo for the last 15 years. He attended Delphi and Carroll high schools. He worked at Bona Vista Industries in Kokomo for the last 15 years. He participated in the Area V Special Olympics for several years; enjoyed music; was a people person; and enjoyed roller skating and bowling. He liked all sports, especially Purdue University athletics. He dearly loved his family, and the many gatherings they shared together.
Survivors include mother, Waneta A. Johnson, Flora; brothers, Mark D. Johnson, Frankfort, and Jon (Carrie) Johnson, St. Peters, Mo.; niece, Allie and Dustin Beardsley, St. Peters, Mo.; and nephew, Clark and Emily Johnson, St. Charles, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Baker-Abbott Funeral Home in Flora, with Rev. Jeff Landon officiating. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.
