Gerald ‘Jerry’ Eugene Graham

— Gerald “Jerry” Eugene Graham 73, Kokomo, died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at home. He was born Aug. 27, 1939, in Lebanon to Hugh and Flava (Schockley) Graham.

Jerry attended Prairie Township High School in Tipton County. He enlisted in the Navy in 1956, and spent 10 years as a hospital corpsman. Before leaving the Navy he attended the University of Kentucky College of Nursing, where he graduated in 1974 as the first male nurse to earn a B.S. degree in nursing.

He re-entered the military following graduation and retired as an army captain after 22 years of service. After his military retirement, he worked for several years as an O.R. nurse and supervisor at the University Hospital Medical Center, Augusta, Ga.

While in the Navy, Jerry met and married Navy nurse Febie (Roberta) Graham from Knoxville, Tenn. They were married for 43 years, prior to her death in January 2001. On Oct. 16, 2006, Jerry married Judy (Rayl Wilburn) Graham, who survives.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Monty and Donald Graham, South Carolina; stepson, Doug (Jodi) Wilburn, Lafayette; stepdaughters, Debbie (Dave) Osborn, Bloomington, Mindy (Duane) Gerald, Frankfort, and Melissa Wilburn, Virginia; grandchildren, Josh Gerald, Indianapolis, Shannon Osborn, Indianapolis, Morgan Gerald, South Carolina, Rebecca Osborn, Bloomington, and Kourtney Gerald, Frankfort; a sister, Joan Preston, Kokomo; and brother, Dwain (Kathryn) Graham, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and sister, Marilyn Pratt.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Services will follow at 6 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Kurt Gremel officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Kokomo Humane Society. Cremation will follow the services. Online condolence may be left at www.stoutandson.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Stout & Son Funeral Home of Russiville.
