Mary Catherine Hunter, 79, Kokomo, passed away at 5:36 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Northwoods Village. She was born Nov. 18, 1933 in Kokomo to the late Earl M. and Isabelle M. (Butcher) Johns. She was raised by her aunt and uncle; Susie and Chauncey Amos, who have preceded her in death.
She graduated from Kokomo High School. Mary was a self-employed painter for thirty years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Beamer United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a daughter and a son-in-law, Susan K. and Loyd A. Lucas, Tipton; son, Robert Jay Hunter, Indianapolis; foster son, Joseph Hewitt, Kokomo; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Ann Kirkpatrick, Kokomo; and brother, Jim Ingles, Bellingham, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Louie, Joe, Dick and Donald Johns; and two sisters, Barbara Amos and Frances Johns.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. with Pastor Evan Strong and Ken Cockrell officiating. Burial will follow in Normanda Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the mortuary.
