George T. “Pipe” Bellamy Jr., 82, Kokomo, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at his residence. George T. Bellamy, Jr. was born Sept. 13, 1931, the son of George T. Bellamy Sr. and Eula D. Browder Bellamy in Kokomo.
He was a retiree from Haynes International as a lab technician. He was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. He was the first director of the Police Athletic League and had coached numerous baseball, basketball and church teams. He was the former head coach for the Kokomo Chiefs, former assistant commissioner of the American Softball Association and the former director of the open gym for the Parks and Recreation Department.
He is survived by his sons, George T. Bellamy, III (Holly), Eric K. Bellamy; daughter, Darlene Cox (Phillip); sisters, Millie Bellamy and Juanita White; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
His parents and wife, Delois B. Bellamy, preceded him in death.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Lonnie E. Anderson will be the officiant and eulogist. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
