---- — Ruthalee (Cunningham) Cook died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus (George Davis Manor) in West Lafayette, her residence since 1996. She was born April 10, 1925, in Adamsboro to the late Carl and Jesse (Neff) Cunningham.
She graduated from Twelve Mile High School in 1943 and earned her RN degree from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in Lafayette in 1947.
She married Eldon Lee Cook on Dec. 11, 1947, in Logansport. They raised their three children in Walton, where they were active in the community. Ruth retired from Logansport Memorial Hospital in 1989 after 40 years as an obstetrics nurse. She was always generous with her time and skills in baking and needlework. Her afghans and quilts have warmed generations of family and friends. She enjoyed watching her grandsons grow up in Lafayette and receiving visits, cards and photos from friends and family. She always enjoyed a good game of Bingo or Euchre, or cheering on her favorite sports team.
She is survived by her two sons and daughter, Paul D. (Connie) Cook, James A. (Sharon) Cook, and Mary Cook; three grandchildren, Matthew (Ami) Cook, Evan Cook and Heather Cook; one sister, Carole Ann (Clark) Hunt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon Lee Cook; brother, Dick Cunningham; and sister, Rita Kinsley.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, with the Rev. Bill Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Walton IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to service time Monday at the funeral home.
