Edwina (Walker) McBee, 92, Kokomo, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born in New Tazwell, Tenn., May 13, 1921, the daughter of the late Ottis and Mae (Bullard) Walker.
Edwina attended Claiborne County schools, then on her 18th birthday, May 13, 1939, Edwina married Ben H. McBee at a little white church in Lone Mountain, Tenn. They were married until his passing on Jan. 1, 1977. Edwina was a member of the Parkview Mennonite Church in Kokomo for several years. Family was very important to Edwina, and she made every holiday and birthdays very special events.
Edwina is survived by her children, Terry B. (Pam) McBee and Joyce A. Fortune, both of Kokomo; her grandchildren, Wendy (Andy) Cage, Tiffany McBee, Shelly (Jason) Hahn, Tracy (Colette) Fortune, Paige (Jim) Fortune-Smith, Troy Fortune, Kim Fortune, Randy (Cheryl) McBee, Phil McBee, Terry (Gina) Corder, Ben McBee, Katie McBee, Dana Howard and Joy (Dennis) Balentine; great-grandchildren, Parker and Cooper Cage, Mason and Nolan Hahn, Ashley, Hannah and Chase Fortune, Chrystal Turner, Shannon Livingston, Kayla Fortune, Samantha Fortune, Travis Fortune, Tim (Melissa) McBee, Miranda McBee, Tucker and Tony Corder, Nate and Amanda Corder, D.J. and Des Balentine and Benjamin, Braylon and Kyleigha Coghill. Other survivors include great-great grandchildren, Ellie McBee and Olivia Turner; a brother Bill (Bobbie) Walker, New Tazwell, Tenn.; a sister, Imogene Love Pressnell, Tazwell, Tenn.; a son-in-law, Kim Duncan; and a daughter-in-law, Wanda McBee Hill.
Edwina was preceded in death by her parents, Ottis and Mae Walker; her husband, Ben McBee; children, Randall McBee, Tim McBee, Billy McBee and Brenda Duncan; a grandson, Shane Fortune; siblings, Wayne Walker and Irene Walker; son-in-law, Bill Fortune; nephews, Chris Love and Brian Corder; and niece Sherry Ragina Walker.
There will be a funeral service for Edwina at 7 p.m. today at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., with the Rev. Grace Whitehead officiating. Edwina’s friends and family are welcome to join together for a time of visitation from 5 p.m. until the time of the service today, also at the mortuary. Edwina will be privately laid to rest in Kokomo Memorial Park, Kokomo.
