Craig Charles Shuck

June 11, 1984 - Sept. 22, 2013

Craig Charles Shuck, 29, of Kokomo went to be with the Lord at 2:58 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health after a seven-month battle with melanoma cancer. He was born on June 11, 1984, in Kokomo to Rick and Jamie (Smith) Shuck.

Craig was a 2003 Northwestern High School graduate and attended Eastern Arizona, where he played basketball. He was baptized at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Great Banquet Community. Craig was all-conference in soccer and basketball at Northwestern High School. He received a scholarship to play basketball for Eastern Arizona. In 2008 he was the assistant basketball coach for Brownsburg High School when the school won the state championship. Craig loved cars and snowmobiling. His smile and laugh were contagious to all his friends and everyone near him.

Survivors include parents, Rick and Jamie Shuck, Kokomo; two brothers, Bryan Mitzelfelt, Indianapolis, Brad Mitzelfelt, Santa Rosa, Calif.; grandparents, Jim (Janet) Smith, Greentown, Barbara (Richard) Bender, Sarasota, Fla.; two aunts, Sandy (Phil) Davenport, Osceola, Renee (Tom) Mathis, York, Pa.; uncle, Geoff (Lana) Shuck, Terre Haute; a host of cousins; and his dog, Oakley.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gene (Marilyn) Shuck.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Annette Moore and nurses for the care they gave to Craig.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Crossroads Community Church at 4254 S. 00 East West in Kokomo, with Pastor Paul Martin and Pastor Dick Sanburn officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the: SHUCKSTRONG Scholarship Fund for Northwestern Students through the Community Foundation, 215 W. Sycamore St. Kokomo, IN 46901.
