Roy Kenneth McCoy, 75, Kokomo, passed away at 10:31 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. He was born in Middlesboro, Ky., on July 9, 1938, to the late Clifford Basil and Carrie Helen (Morgan) McCoy. Roy married Maria G. Hughes in 1986 in Kokomo, and she survives.
Roy worked for over 24 years at Cuneo Press. He was a member at the Senior Citizen Center, where he enjoyed attending the functions, especially meals. Some of Roy’s favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing.
Roy is survived by his spouse, Maria McCoy, Kokomo; his children, Debbie Kegley, Virginia, Ken McCoy, Illinois, Rhonda (Mark) Mayhew, Greenfield, and Robert Hughes, Jessica Thomas and James Hughes, all of Kokomo; his grandchildren, Jordyn McCoy, Tommy McCoy, Jesse Parsons, Ashley Kegley, Courtney Bullington, Mark Mayhew and Olivia Smith; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Jewell Williams; and a special aunt, Univee Lamp.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael McCoy; and two brothers, Earl and Floyd McCoy.
There will be a funeral service for Roy at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Ron Degraaff officiating. Following the funeral service, Roy will be laid to rest in Crown Point Cemetery. Roy’s friends and family are welcome to join together for a time of visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, also at the mortuary.
