Alice Lavonne 'Bonnie' (Grubb) Middlesworth

Alice Lavonne “Bonnie” (Grubb) Middlesworth, 92, Greentown, died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Century Villa Health Care. She was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Peru, to Russell and Marguerite (Gillard) Grubb. On Aug. 6, 1939, she married Joseph E. Middlesworth in Converse, and he passed away on Feb. 6, 1987.

Bonnie was a 1939 Converse High School graduate. She became a farm wife, assisting her husband and family on the farm. She started working at Lloyd’s Florist in Marion as a floral designer. She was a co-owner of Carriage Manor Flowers and Gifts in Kokomo for 35 years and also was the owner of The Red Sleigh Christmas Shop in Metamora for 32 years. Bonnie was a member of Converse Church of Christ, attended Jerome Christian Church and attended Buena Vista Christian Church in Laurel. She was a member and past president of the Altrusa Club of Kokomo, 4-H leader for Jackson Township and was a board member of Greentown Historical Society. Some of Bonnie’s hobbies include genealogy research, traveling and gardening.

Survivors include sons Denny (Sauce) Middlesworth, Kirkland, Wash., Lonnie (Charlotte) Middlesworth, Richmond, Randy (Denise) Middlesworth, Greentown; daughter Jana Healy, Cambridge, Wis.; sister, Jeanne Riggs, Greentown; grandchildren, Kim Echols, Katie Perigoue, Kelly White, Shawn Middlesworth, Jason Middlesworth, Evan Middlesworth, Trent Middlesworth, Kyrsten Middlesworth; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters in-law, Shirley Grubb, Mary Doris Winegardner; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John (Ada) Middlesworth.

She was preceded in death by parents, Russell and Marguerite Grubb; husband, Joseph Middlesworth; brother, Bud Grubb; and brother-in-law, Glenn Riggs.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Pastor John Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Converse Cemetery. Friends may call upon the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Greentown Historical Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
