Leon Gray, 83, Greentown, went to be with the Lord at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Century Villa Health Care in Greentown. He was born July 10, 1930, in Murdock, Ill., the son of Emery and Edna (Profit) Gray. On April 7, 1951, he married Pat J. (Grissom) Gray, and she survives.
Leon was a 1948 graduate of Oakland High School and attended diesel and mechanical school in Nashville, Tenn. He served his country in the U.S. Army in 1952 and 1953. Leon was employed by Szabo Food Service for 21 years, and also was employed as a machine operator for Delco Electronics for 14 years, retiring in 1993. Leon was a member of Jerome Christian Church. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, playing games and cards with them.
In addition to his wife, Leon is survived by, three daughters, Gail Crawford, Susan Cheek and husband Timothy, and Terri Dunn and husband Rex, all of Greentown; a sister, Lennie Deverick, Simpsonville, S.C.; grandchildren, Haley Johnson and husband Chris, Jessica Miller and husband Shane, Brook Miller and husband Bradley, Nick Dunn and wife Amanda, and Stephanie Winn and husband Seth; great-grandchildren, Korbin Miller, Kamp Miller, Kreed Miller, Bailey Miller, Briar Miller, Ramiah Gray Dunn and Zayla Winn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Gray; and four brothers, Carl, Gene, Leroy and James Gray.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Dick Moser officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors by the Greentown American Legion. Friends may call on the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
