Richard B. Lantz, 76, Kokomo, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, after a one-day stay at Howard Community Regional Health. He was born Feb. 13, 1937, in Howard County, the son of Burl and Hazel (Shultz) Lantz.
Dick married Martha A. Wilkinson on Feb. 20, 1959, and she survives. He graduated from Peru High School in 1956 and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Dick worked at Stellite for 20 years, owned and operated Lantz’s Ceramic Shop and Indiana Ceramic Slip Co. before retiring in 1955 from mechanical maintenance.
Dick coached PAL football and was a member of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed target shooting, model trains and his retirement years living at Lake Shafer.
Survivors include wife, Martha Lantz, Kokomo; son, Eric (Janice) Lantz, Peru; daughter, Cindy Abel, Nashville, Tenn.; and grandson, Chris Lantz, Tarzana, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim Lantz.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., Peru. Services will follow at 1 p.m. and burial will be at Kendall Cemetery, Plevna, the site of his birth.
