Carol L. (Larson) Beaty, 79, Kokomo, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 27, 1935, in Chicago, to Roy F. and Pauline (Taggart) Larson. Her early school years were spent in a one-room school house in rural Farmington, Ill. She graduated from Peoria High School and attended Bradley University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in speech and hearing. While at Bradley, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority, and remained active with its Kokomo alumnae group.
She initially worked as a teacher for the Pekin (Ill.) School Corporation before marrying and moving to Detroit. She spent many years as a homemaker and moved several times, but made Kokomo her home for a combination of 38 years. Upon returning to Kokomo in 1991, she worked at Dorothy Edwards Realty Office as a secretary before retiring.
Carol was an active member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, as well as the Psalms Bible study group. Her joys in life included her family, church, friendships and pets. She had an outgoing and positive personality and had the unique ability to befriend just about anyone she met, making many friends along the way. She will be truly missed. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching her grandsons participate in athletic competition.
Survivors include her brother, Roy (Patricia) Larson, Canton, Ill.; daughter, Susan (Charles) Antony, Ruston, La.; son, Michael (Karen) Beaty, Danville; grandsons, Kyle Antony, Houston, Texas, Andrew Antony, Gainesville, Fla., Mitchell Antony, Ruston, La., William Beaty, Danville, and Kristi (Zach) Pritchett, Danville; and great-granddaughter, Evelyn Pritchett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; as well as an older brother, Richard.
