Elizabeth Rayl Clevinger, 87, Kokomo, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at her home. She was born on Sept. 11, 1925, in Gothenburg, Neb., to David and Amelia (Toomey) Deeb. She married Fred Rayl in 1948, and he preceded her in death. Then she married Dr. Bill Clevinger on Aug. 14, 1993, and he passed away on Sept. 22, 2005.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Media High School in Media and Good Samaritan School of Nursing as an R.N. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital from 1948 to 1967 in the ER and in surgery and for Dr. P.L. Perkins from 1967 to 1987. Elizabeth was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church, St. Andrew Guild. She volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital for 22 years. She was a member of Kokomo Country Club, where she bowled on a team. Elizabeth enjoyed playing cards at the country club and loved to go shopping.
Survivors include daughter, Sara “Sally” (Bob) Rayl Hollingsworth, Kokomo; son, Mike (Cindy) Rayl, Kokomo; four grandchildren, Joe (Andrea) Rayl, Abram (Megan) Rayl, Jonathan (Jessica) Hollingsworth, Peter Hollingsworth; five great-grandchildren, Betsy Rayl, Norah Rayl, Katie Rayl, Addie Rayl, Hadley Hollingsworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Amelia Deeb; husbands, Fred Rayl and Dr. Bill Clevinger; four sisters and four brothers.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 602 W. Superior St., with the Rev. Father Richard Lightsey and the Rev. Father Ted Neidlinger officiating services. Inurnment will follow at the church in the columbarium. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
