Martha E. “Marty” Nixon, 60, Russiaville, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 9:48 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Hospital. Marty was born April 4, 1953 in Kirklin, to the late George and Rosie Estelle Harris (Daniels).
She was involved in daycare until retiring. She was a member of the Kempton Lions Club and attended Heartland Church. She loved to sing at the music jams and enjoyed playing the mandolin. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading the Bible. The holidays were her favorite time of year. Marty also enjoyed collecting Christmas and sheep figurines. She loved to travel and enjoyed learning about history. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Michael D. Nixon; a son, Chad M. Nixon; a daughter, Angela R. (Nixon) Houk and husband, Gregory W.; a brother, Terry G. Harris; three sisters, Beulah B. McWhirt, Helen G. Allen and husband, Richard, and Sandra M. Tishner and husband, David; a sister-in-law, Cindy Harris; two grandchildren, Ethan W. Houk and Xavier M. Nixon; and several nieces and nephews.
Marty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ray Harris; and two sisters, Betty S. Ridge and Francis Harris.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Services will follow at 1 p.m. also at the mortuary with Dr. William Salsbery officiating. Burial will be in Kempton Cemetery, Kempton.
