George G. Leep

May 24, 1923 - March 14, 2013

George G. Leep, 89, Kokomo, passed away at 3:09 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born May 24, 1923, in Madison to Marshall Graham Leep and Mary Ruth (Pavey) Leep. On June 28, 1946, in Kokomo, he married Betty Jane Creamer, and she survives.

He graduated from Kokomo High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a Kokomo firefighter and retired in 1968 after many years of service. He was a surveyor and also worked for Napa Auto Parts in Kokomo. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Kokomo Firefighters Local 396. George enjoyed bowling, Chicago Cubs, Indiana basketball, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty Jane Leep, Kokomo; son, Roger D. and wife Kathy Leep, Kokomo; son, David L. Leep, Russiaville; daughter, Marcia A. and husband Floyd Shaw, Kokomo; daughter, Cindy J. Leep, Kokomo; daughter-in-law, Dutch Leep, Kokomo; grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Jenny Shaw, Jim and wife Tammi Shaw, Christine Leep, Monica and husband Brian Jones, Derrick Leep, Melissa and husband Shawn Henson, and Kerra Leep; great-grandchildren, Karlie Shaw, Evan Shaw, Emma Shaw, Cooper Shaw, Nick Leep, Miles Leep, Elizabeth Jones, Briaina Roabaugh and Alexia Roabaugh.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kerry G. Leep; a sister, Rene Downhour; and a granddaughter, Shelley Shaw.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 310 W. Taylor St., with Pastor Paul Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, with military honors by the Kokomo V.F.W. military rites team and the United States Army. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, two hours prior to the service at the church.
