Virginia M. Smith, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Golden Years Assisted Living Center. Virginia was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Kokomo. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Nora Julian (Mechling). On Sept. 22, 1940, she married Cecil Paul Smith who preceded her in death. They had three sons, Ronald, Brent and Eric Smith.
She worked at Sears, Julian grocery store and at the Howard County Assessor’s office in the 1950s. She also sold Avon and was the Avon president club. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. As a child went to Southside Christian Church.
She is survived by a son, Eric Smith, Kokomo; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Smith, Kokomo; four grandchildren, Joy Scott, Kokomo, Nicholas Smith, Kokomo, Brandon Smith, Kokomo, and Sarah Smith, Indianapolis; and one great-grandchild, Krystal Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Paul; and two sons, Ronald and Brent Smith.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. Services will follow at noon, also at the mortuary, with Pastor Nancy Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
