Marie Alexander

— Marie Alexander, 97, Kokomo, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born Sept. 4, 1915, in Winchester, to Joshua and Dottie (Kirkendoll) Foreman. On Feb. 11, 1931, she married Scott Alexander, who preceded her in death May 26, 1995.  

Marie was a member of Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church. She retired from Delco Electronics in 1973 after 26 years of service.

She is survived by her children, Robert Wayne (Doris) Alexander, Kokomo, and Joan (Amon) Tew, Miami, Ind.; grandchildren, Debbie Burkhart, David (Michelle) Alexander, Ryan (April) Alexander, Dale Sommers, Kevin (Patti) Sommers, Pam (Jeff) Maish, Brian (Lisa) Sommers, Kris Myers, Jean (John) Kaylor, Carol (Carl) Greeno and Andy Alexander; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Herbert Alexander and John Alexander; daughter-in-law, Sue (Alexander) Reynolds; son-in-law, Paul Sommers; grandson, Richard Alexander; brothers, John Foreman and Herbert Foreman; and a sister, Dorothy Foreman.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Russell Veldman officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Margaret M. ‘Peggy’ Hawkins

Margaret M. “Peggy” Hawkins, 89, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at her home.    

A memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding. After cremation, burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery at a later date.
