Ervin F. “Bud” Wright Jr., 80, Ft. Wayne, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello. Born Nov. 5, 1932, in Kokomo, he is the son of the late Ervin F. Wright, Sr. and Mary Margaret (Knipfer) Wright. He was a 1950 graduate of Northwestern High School. On Feb. 16, 1951 in Kokomo, he married Beverly Sue (Grist). On July 28, 1982 he married Georgia E. (Griswold). She preceded him in death Sept. 22, 2011.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Korea and Japan during the Korean War. He was a pharmaceutical sales representative for Merieux Institute for over 20 years. He most recently was employed with Sinclair International in Fort Wayne. He enjoyed hunting, especially antelope. He was a shooter, reloader, a lifetime member of the NRA and a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. He was a well-known World War II historian and a member of the American Legion in Fort Wayne.
Survivors include two sons, Mark (Susan) Wright, Ann Arbor, Mich. and Gregory Wright, Monticello; one brother, Mike (Suzie) Wright, Kokomo; one sister, Carol Ann Whitehead, Kokomo; two grandchildren, Brooke (Marcus) Wright and Katie Marie Miller; one great-grandchild Mavryk Lee Ivey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Vickie Wright; his second wife, Georgia E. Wright; and one brother, Joseph Wright.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., Kokomo. Pastor Ken Spangler will officiate. Burial with military rites by the U.S. Air Force and the Kokomo Military Rites Team will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
