JoAnn (Roe) Mulkey, 75, entered into the gates of Heaven at 2:35 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013. She was lovingly surrounded by family when her Savior called her home. She was born to Frances (Walker) and Clyde Roe on Nov. 19, 1937, in Sharps Chapel, Tenn. She had lived in Kokomo since she was a young girl. On Aug. 31, 1964, she married James “Roy” Mulkey who survives.
She worked at Delco for 30 years and retired in 1992. She was baptized and was a member at Hillside Missionary Baptist Church, Burlington.
Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her memories will be kept alive by her surviving loved ones including daughter, Amanda (David) Smith; son, Jeffrey Mulkey; stepson, James (Kristal) Mulkey Jr.; stepdaughter, Debbie (Tim) Ungerer; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Sara, Chase, Jordan, Rachel, Jessica, Dusti and Heather; seven great-grandchildren including one to be born in March; nine stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; she will also be sadly missed by her baby Yorkie, Abbie Rose; and her niece and best friend, Judy (Mike) Dougherty.
Her grand reunion into Heaven will include her parents; all of her siblings, Helen (Rick) Bailey, Larry (Judy) Roe, Gary Roe and Darrell (April) Roe; stepdaughter, Rhonda Nehme; and her life-long friend and cousin, Jetta Cook.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Doyle Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. The family will be accepting visitors from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
