---- — Evelyn Irene Kaufman, 96, Kokomo, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at her home. She was born Feb. 4, 1917, in Walton to Millard Pearl (Walker) Fitzer. In 1937, Evelyn married Albert Kaufman and he passed away in 1981.
Evelyn was a graduate of Walton High School and worked for Delco Electronics for 30 years and retiring in 1982. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Drive for many years. Evelyn enjoyed traveling, but most all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Terry Kaufman, Indianapolis, and Jack (Amy) Kaufman, Burlington; daughter, Joy (Ray) Meyers; 11 grandchildren, Trent (Julie) Kaufman, Galva, Ill., Matt Lyon, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Susan (Paul) Schuytema, Monmouth, Ill., Kimberly (Doug) Alexander, Fishers, Kristy (Larry) Roach, Peachtree City, Ga., Kyle Kaufman, Kokomo, Dawn (Richard) Pierson, Louisville, Ky., Bret (Cary) Meyers, Chelsea, Ala., Phillip Meyers, Kokomo, Anne (Michael) Padgett, Kokomo, and Elizabeth (Jeremiah) Bell, Midlothian, Va.; two sisters, Doris Cook, Greensburg, and Jean Baber, Walton; brother in-law, James Brown, Kokomo; sister in-law, Florence Mae Kaufman, Kokomo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Pearl Fitzer; husband, Albert Kaufman; two brothers, Donald and Vic Fitzer; three brother-in-laws; and four sister-in-laws.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel at 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Pastor Steve Sherwood will officiate services. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from noon until 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
